Genji Series
I wanted to get away from making round pots and to reach a new creative level. As I have always perceived masculine feminine elements in every artistic object, it was natural for me to place human figures into my pots. Once I started sculpting, "The tale of Genji" scroll inspired me to create Genji embracing Aoi and other royal ladies, who wore beautiful and ostentatious kimonos called 12-Hitoe.
These pots were inspired by Tales of Genji. Genji is the name of the prince from the first novel of Japan written by Lady Murasaki in the eleventh century (Heian Period).
